Indonesia's energy needs are met by fossil fuels. For most household energy needs to rely on oil and LPG.
Therefore, the search for alternative fuels that can be updated (renewable), environmentally friendly and economic value, the more done. Teak sawdust yet fully exploited, whereas teak sawdust biomass calorific value is relatively large. If the teak wood sawdust charcoal formed dipirolisis then mixed with adhesive glue from starch, it will be the briquettes as an alternative fuel that can be renewable.
Briquetting process begins by drying sawdust, then sieved with a sieve to obtain a certain particle size, after the sawdust dipirolisis by means of pyrolysis. Charcoal which has been formed from the pyrolysis of adhesive glue mixed with starch after it is printed with a press.
Factors modifiers used in this study is the particle size of sawdust that is 40, 60, 80, 100 mesh and glue the weight ratio of starch by weight of charcoal that is 0.3 parts; 0.5 parts;Section 0.7 and section 0.9. And the fixed factor is the mass of 10 grams of charcoal sawdust, for combustion processes pyrolysis time 3 hours, compression pressure to 20 times the force of the briquette press. The results showed that the highest compressive strength obtained at variable particle size teak sawdust 100 mesh, with a weight ratio of starch glue and 0.9 part by weight of charcoal that is equal to 0.0152 kN / cm2 and the calorific value of 5786.37 cal / g.
